DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A man accused of killing another man in Waukee has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
Forty-two-year-old Brendan McGuinness entered a not guilty plea in court Wednesday.
McGuinness is accused of shooting 41-year-old Gino Risola several times in early November. Risola later died at a hospital.
Authorities say McGuinness ambushed Risola when he and his wife returned to their home.
Des Moines television station KCCI reports the shooting is the first homicide in Waukee since 1977.
McGuiness has a pretrial conference scheduled on Jan. 8. A jury trial is set for Feb. 1.
