CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Police have put out a warning for people shopping in Cedar Falls going into the holiday season.

Highway 58 and Viking Road is one of the most dangerous intersections in Iowa. Police are asking drivers to use caution when shopping in that area.

The intersection is always in the top ten for the most dangerous intersections in Iowa, recently landing at number four.

Police say there's a lot of traffic at the intersection because of all the new businesses going up in the Viking Road area.

The department partnered with the DOT again this year to put up signs to alert the 60 mile an hour traffic to slow down.

"And some of those accidents are very serious and all because of all the new businesses on the viking road area. We have a lot more traffic during that Thanksgiving to Christmas time. So we've done things to alleviate that," said Capt. Mike Hayes, Cedar Falls Police.

If you live in Cedar Falls and know this area, police urge you to take alternate routes to get to that area.
