IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The Iowa-Minnesota game ball is making its way to Iowa City, thanks to the University of Iowa Veterans Association. The group is walking from Minneapolis to Iowa City.

They started the trek Sunday morning at ten.

Each group is walking 15 to 20 miles. It was a tough, windy walk Thursday, but they're walking for awareness of veteran suicide.

"I guess I've been wearing a uniform for over 20 years as a lot of people who went with us. I mean veterans have chosen to serve their nation, we need to make sure we do the best we can for him," said Zachary Buettner.

The packs they are carrying weigh about 22 pounds. They say it's for the 22 veterans who commit suicide everyday.

The distance is 286 miles long. They plan to be in Iowa City on Saturday.
