Police Chief says 'knock it off' after shots fired incident

Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating a shots fired incident that led to a car crash in Waterloo. It happened Sunday in the neighborhoods of Courtland and Vinton Street.

Police Chief Dan Trelka says one car was getting shot at by another car. That caused this vehicle to lose control and run into a tree.

Witnesses say four people ran away from the vehicle. Trelka says they talked to the driver and a passenger in that wrecked car, who say they didn't know who shot at them.

As of right now, no one has been arrested in this incident.

"Knock it off, just knock it off. Somebody could have easily died yesterday. We don't want to have another four year old child shot. I mean this is stupidity," said Trelka.

A couple bullets hit the car and police found one stray bullet that hit a home.

Trelka says several people did call the police station as soon as they heard gunshots, but they were unable to provide names. If you have any information, contact police.
