GOP hopeful Carson: Questions on veracity are "irrelevant"

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says questions about his veracity are irrelevant to the nation's search for the next president.

The retired neurosurgeon is facing questions over the accuracy of his autobiography, including his claim that he was offered a full scholarship to West Point military academy.

All expenses for students admitted to West Point are paid, in exchange for five years of Army service after graduation.

Carson is telling several Sunday talk shows that the scrutiny he is receiving is unlike any faced by Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton or President Barack Obama.

Carson says that's because he's a threat to other candidates, especially Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

He's casting the questions as an effort to distract him, without relevance to the job he'd do as president.
