Three rural Iowa projects to receive federal funding

DES MOINES (AP) -

Three projects in rural Iowa will receive federal money to help pay for the upgrades to water and sewer systems.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced the funding for Iowa Lakes Regional Water utility, Lone Rock and a YMCA camp near Cedar Rapids.

A total of 141 projects nationwide will share $314 million.

The grants are designed to help rural communities upgrade their infrastructure for water and wastewater.

The Iowa Lakes Regional Water utility will receive a $1.3 million loan and a $954,700 grant.

Lone Rock is getting a $215,000 loan and a $635,000 grant.

YMCA of Cedar Rapids is getting a $631,000 loan and a $40,000 grant for a sewer project at Camp Wapsie.
