AMANA (KWWL) -

The people of Amana reminisce about memories at the Amana Colonies Golf Course Clubhouse that was destroyed in a fire early Friday morning.

“You could go in there and have a beer or two, or a pop, and just kind of watch the wildlife walk around," Amana resident Curtis Sawian said. "It'll be missed.”

Local golfers and people who frequent the clubhouse are sad to see it go.

“One of my co-workers likes to golf and he's probably gonna be a little bit upset by it,” Colony Inn Restaurant employee Rachel Harder said.

Many amana residents say they will miss going to the clubhouse for dinners, live entertainment, and the spectacular view from inside.

Some people who live in Amana think the clubhouse fire may also affect local businesses, especially in the Amana Colonies.

Business owners say they have seen women come into the shops and restaurants in the Colonies while their husbands were on the golf course or at the clubhouse, and that they may see less traffic now that the clubhouse has been destroyed.

“It'll probably draw some of the tourists away, because of that," Colony Inn Restaurant Employee Caitlon Tellin said.

But the people of amana are staying positive that the clubhouse will be rebuilt.

“It's a good area and I think there's gonna be something back here," Sawian said. "You know, it's just too nice of an area not to have something here.”

Official word on reconstruction and the cause of the blaze have not yet been released.
