Farm toy show draws thousands to Dyersville

DYERSVILLE (KWWL) -

Model farm tractors and toys everywhere...it's the national farm toy show in Dyersville.

"If they can't find a toy here, they'll never find it anywhere...I'm not kidding ya. I mean it has to be really rare if they can't find it at a national toy show," said toy collector and farmer Jerry Zahner.

Zahner has been collecting toys since he was a little boy.

"I've still got all my toys and I'm fairly old, and I still got all  my toys in the box from when I was a kid," he added.

And now this toy enthusiast has been selling handmade collectables at this show for over 30 years.

"These things are one of a kind and everyone I get is different.  Even though it's the same model everyone is built different because it's not a production line, it's handmade with their heart and their head," said Zahner.

In its 38th year, the family friendly event features about 400 vendors, a  toy auction and a sanctioned micro-mini pull.

And every year the toy show attracts thousands from all across the country -- from old to young.

"I got a little tractor...a red one and a blue one," said 7-year-old Andrew Vanderkolk  from Caledonia, Michigan.

"I got a combine," added his brother Patrick.

The fun is not over yet...the farm toy show runs until Sunday.
