3 former Kernels players in AFL All-Star game

Three former Cedar Rapids Kernels players will play in this weekend's Arizona Fall League All-Star Game.

Adam Brett Walker, Nick Burdi and Mitch Garver will play in the game slated for Saturday at 7 p.m.

The game, which will be broadcast live on the MLB Network, features top prospects from all 30 Major League teams. Garver, Burdi and Walker will play for the AFL Eastern Division Team and all three represent the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Garver played the entire 2014 season with the kernels, batting .298 with 16 HR and 79 RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the ninth round of the 2013 First Year Player Draft out of the University of New Mexico.

Burdi pitched in 13 games for the Kernels during the 2014 season, posting four saves and a 4.15 ERA over 13 IP. He was selected by the Twins in the second round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisville.

Walker played the entire 2013 season for the Kernels, batting .278 with 27 HR and 109 RBI. He led the league in HR and RBI and was selected to the MWL West All-Star team. He was selected by the Twins in the third round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Jacksonville University.
