Toyota getting rid of controversial airbags

Posted: Updated:

The world's largest car maker is getting rid of Takata airbags in their vehicles.
The president of Toyota announced Friday, the company is done using Takata air bag components that use ammonium nitrate.
The airbags using ammonium nitrate have been at the center of controversy lately as U.S. regulators believe they can explode with excessive force, spraying shrapnel inside the vehicle.
Toyota isn't the first to dump the airbags, Honda and Mazda announced earlier this week they're getting rid of the potentially deadly airbags.
