Convictions handed down in Iowa City officer assault

This is an editors note updating the charges against four men after police responded to a 2012 house party in Iowa City.

Garret Curry was charged and convicted of assault causing injury involving peace officers, possession of fictitious license, card or form and disorderly house. According to online court records he was ordered to pay $1,005 in fines and serve 30 days in jail back in December of 2012.

Ian Zelko was charged and convicted of providing to persons under legal age and disorderly house. According to online court records he was ordered to pay $200 in fines in December of 2012.

Morgan Janssen was originally charged with disorderly house, interference with official acts involving dangerous weapon or firearm, assault with weapon-peace officers, fourth degree criminal mischief, supplying alcohol to persons under age, interference with official acts-bodily injury, assault causing injury-peace officers, obstruction of emergency communications and consumption/intoxication.

According to online court records, Janssen was convicted of disorderly house, interference with official acts, obstruction of emergency communications and consumption/intoxication. He was ordered to pay a total of $1,075 in fines and spend 30 days in jail.

Brett Theriault was originally charged with providing to persons under legal age, but that charge was dismissed. However, he was convicted of disorderly house and ordered to pay $100 in fines.
