WATERLOO (KWWL) -

UPDATE:

Authorities say they were attempting to pull over 24-year-old Brandon Seeley in a blue Dodge van near Young Arena in downtown Waterloo Tuesday.  He was wanted for probation violation for possession with intent to deliver marijuana out of Jones County.

Authorities say Seeley drove the van towards an officer who exited his squad car near 4th and Wellington Streets.  Waterloo Police then fired at the van, but Seeley continued to drive away.

The chase ended at 337 S. Hackett Road, and Seeley was taken into custody after running into the garage.  He was transported to Allen Hospital with gunshot wounds.

There are still many questions in this case. Neighbors say they are frustrated and want to know why an officer would open fire in the neighborhood, just a block away from an elementary school.

Carol Mix says, "I just want some peace around here."

In the video from a viewer, the van appears to get very close to the officer who was out of his car.

As of Wednesday morning, the Iowa Department of Public Safety says Seeley remains in the hospital.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is continuing to investigate.

A man is in the hospital with injuries following a chase that started at W. 4th Street and Wellington Street, which appeared to be at Anfinson & Luce, an attorney's office.

A person who identified herself as the office manager at the firm said they would not be commenting on the incident investigation.

Police say a man was shot several times at the intersection of W. 4th and Wellington Streets, before leading authorities on a chase eventually ending on S. Hackett Road.

A KWWL crew on the scene at S. Hackett Road saw a van go into a yard.

The attorney's office and surrounding intersections were blocked off.
