JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors is creating a new committee to study the county's increasing minimum wage,

This month the first of three increases took effect.

The goal of the committee is to study how the minimum wage changes are impacting the community. The committee will consider the challenges of low wage workers, the needs of employers, and the impact of the county's Minimum Wage Ordinance.

The committee will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors about possible changes to the ordinance.

The committee will have 11 people serving one, two or three year terms.

Applications are available on the county's website.

The Board of Supervisors' decision to increase the minimum wage in Johnson County has been controversial. So far Oxford, Shueyville, Swisher, and Solon have all opted out of the increase.
