UPDATES: Iowa vs. Maryland

Posted: Updated:

Iowa remains out in front, scoring twice more and leading Maryland by a three-score margin at halftime, 21-0. The Hawks have out-gained Maryland 240-68 in yardage, and have held the ball for seven and a half minutes longer than the Terps. Iowa's defense has looked consistently strong in a clean frame for the half.

The Hawkeyes have come out with a methodical if not willful approach on offense, possessing the  ball for 10:09 of the first quarter  and jumping out to a 7-0 lead. Iowa's quarter was highlighted by a touchdown scamper from LeShun Daniels, Jr. at 4:42 of the opening frame -- which is the difference in the game entering the second.

It has been a resurgent year for the Iowa football team, and Coach Kirk Ferentz hopes his upstart Hawkeyes continue to compile the accolades in an afternoon conference tilt with Maryland today.

The Terrapins (2-5, 0-3 Big Ten) come into this afternoon as road underdogs, and will face a Hawkeyes squad that is 7-0 for the first time since 2009 and ranked within the top ten after a five-year drought.

Iowa (7-0, 3-0 Big Ten) returns to Kinnick Stadium for its fifth home game on the year, having won the previous four games in Iowa City by a combined 149-74 margin.

The Hawkeyes enter the final month of the regular season looking to take a shot at running the table to a possible Big Ten Championship Game appearance, facing conference foes that have gone a combined 2-15 in Big Ten play this year to date. Wisconsin trails Iowa by one game in the loss column for the Big Ten West lead, but the Hawkeyes own a virtual two game advantage over the Badgers by virtue of a 10-6 road win in Madison earlier this month.

This afternoon's game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. Check back at kwwl.com for game updates, as well as the KWWL Facebook and Twitter feeds for live score updates.
