Driver of horse and buggy dies after crash

Iowa State Police say the driver of a horse and buggy is dead after a crash with a semi.

It happened Friday shortly after 9:00 a.m. in Davis County.

Authorities say the horse and buggy was going northbound on Ice Avenue on the east shoulder. 

The semi was also northbound on Ice Avenue approaching the buggy. The semi pulled into the left lane to pass it, but then the horse turned left causing the semi to strike the horse and buggy.

The driver of the buggy,  77-year-old Norman Jessie Yutzy of Bloomfield was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
