WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) -- A 28-year-old man has been found guilty in the fatal shooting of an acquaintance in Waterloo.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that Roderick Ward Jr. was found guilty of second-degree murder on Thursday. He was initially charged with first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Ward killed 27-year-old Gary Wilson on Aug. 2, 2014. According to prosecutors, Ward followed Wilson outside Ward's house after arguing, and then shot him several times.

Wilson was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
