WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo police officer has died of an "unknown medical trauma."

Adam Liddle was 35 years old. He had been with the Waterloo Police Department for three years and previously worked for the Black hawk County Sheriff's Office.

Liddle died Thursday. The last shift he worked was Wednesday, October 28 from 3-11 p.m.

According to the Waterloo Police Chief, Liddle's death is being reviewed to see if it meets criteria under the Hometown Heroes Act to be considered a "line of duty death."

Liddle leaves behind a wife and 10-year-old son. According to the Chief, "Officer Liddle was an outstanding asset of the Waterloo Police Department and proudly served the citizens of Waterloo. He will be missed by many."
