UPDATE: Man arrested in Delaware Co. school bus crash

DELAWARE COUNTY (KWWL) -

UPDATE: Authorities arrested a man in connection with a school bus crash in Delaware County.  Monte Klink was arrested on an Iowa State Patrol arrest warrant for Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle, Operating While Intoxicated Second Offense, Failure to Obey Yield Sign, and Failure to Provide Financial Liability.

Deputies say Klink failed to yield at the intersection of 195th St. and 200th Avenue in Delaware County on October 1, causing a collision between his SUV and a West Delaware school bus.

Klink posted bail today, October 29.  His first court appearance is set for November 4 at the Delaware County Courthouse.

The Iowa State Patrol identifies the drivers involved in Thursday's bus crash.

Troopers say 41-year-old Monte Alan Klink was driving a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder north on 200th Avenue when he failed to yield to the bus traveling east on 195th Street.

Troopers say 52-year-old Mark Patrick Wiley of Manchester was driving the 2006 bus.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers confirm several students were taken to the hospital following the crash.

The students were all treated for minor or superficial injuries, they're all expected to be OK.

The Iowa State Patrol says a crash happened when the driver of a Pathfinder heading north on 200th Avenue failed to yield at an intersection and hit the bus, which was carrying approximately 34 kids.

The bus rolled one time.

All students were taken to the hospital for observation.

The Iowa State Patrol says the river of Pathfinder is also being observed at hospital for minor injuries.

West Delaware district offices say superintendent Dr. Kristen Rickey is working to gather more information.

A news release is expected this afternoon.

Multiple cities EMT and fire departments are being called to a bus rollover about a mile outside of Manchester. 


Officials at the Delaware County Sheriff's Office say all of the children on the bus are being taken to the hospital as a precaution.


The call came in that the bus rolled at about 1:40 this afternoon.

At this point, those at the sheriff's office can't tell us the age of the children on the bus, or the extent of the injuries of any of the kids in the crash.


Emergency crews from several area towns are on the scene of the rollover.
