DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Some kids caught their first fish today in Dubuque.

It was family fishing day at Heritage Pond.

Nearly 1,800 trout fish were stocked at the pond as part  of Iowa DNR's fall program.

Expert fishermen showed kids how to bait hooks, tie knots ...and of course catch fish.

"It was big and it was my first fish...it was fun...and its exciting," said Jordan Quinn.

The event was also held today in Muscatine and Fort Madison.

The program continues in several other cities through November,  including Iowa City on Oct. 30 and Cedar Rapids on Nov. 6.
