Posted: Updated:
DUBUQUE COUNTY (KWWL) -

If you're in need of getting rid of hazardous materials such as leftover fertilizer, paint thinners, antifreeze or other items -- you should probably do it soon.

The Regional Collection Center in Dubuque will soon be closed for the season.

That's from Nov. 1 through March 30, 2016.

Drop-off service is free to Dubuque and Delaware county households and farms anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The Regional Collection Center is located at the Dubuque Metro Landfill.

While the center is closed, there are certain things you can do to reduce hazardous material in your home:

- Purchase only the quantity of product you need

- Use the product according to the manufacturer’s directions

- If you do have leftover materials, store them in their original containers
