This morning, nearly 100 veterans and their guardians left the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids and headed to our nation's capital.

While there, veterans will see the World War II Memorial, the Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam Memorials as well as visit Arlington Cemetery.

The group will observe the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier this afternoon before seeing both the Women's Memorial and the Air Force Memorial.

According to the organization, 13 veterans are from World War II, with 39 from the Korean War and 35 from the Vietnam War.

The flight is expected to arrive back in eastern Iowa around 10 p.m.; everyone is encouraged to help welcome the group back home.
