IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

University of Iowa students and faculty and community members are set to partake in "Rally to Defend Our Universities," -- a protest in support of demands for the Iowa Board of Regents to resign or be removed -- on Wednesday, October 21st.

A newly formed group of students, alumni, faculty, staff, unions and community members called Iowans Defending Our Universities (IDOU) planned the event as a response to anger over the Regents’ corrupted search for a new UI President.

IDOU formed over the past few weeks to push for the integrity, reputation and future of Iowa’s universities.

Event speakers will include current UI undergraduate and graduate students, parents of UI students and alumni, current and former faculty members and community and labor leaders.

The rally will happen at Iowa Memorial Union on the UI campus.
