WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley earned two awards at the annual Boys & Girls Club Midwest Conference last week in Chicago, Il.

They earned the Bronze League of Eagles Award and a Silver Gateway Award.

The League of Eagles Award is given to organizations with top level commitment to local organizations throughout the entire country, which includes meetings, helping with events, and setting policy.

The Gateway Award is given to clubs who have shown the biggest increase in daily attendance across the country.  Daily attendance has risen to 275, up from 150 per day just five years ago.  Chuck Rowe, club CEO, says the rise can be attributed to an increase in programming and locations.

“As always the message we tell people is that we don’t do things for awards, but we do things for what they represent," Rowe said.  "Things have been moving in such a positive direction for the Club lately but we couldn’t do it without the Board and Staff that we have in place.  Both groups have been providing the resources needed to make for a positive place for kids”
