IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

University of Iowa running back Akrum Wadley has snagged the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor for his fill-in performance against Northwestern.

Wadley, a sophomore from Newark, New Jersey, came into the game late in the first quarter after starting running Back Jordan Canzeri injured his ankle.

Wadley carried the ball 26 times for 204 yards and four touchdowns en route to Iowa's 40-10 victory over Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois.

Five Hawkeyes have won Player of the Week honors this season. C.J. Beathard won the Offensive Player of the Week award in week two for his performance against Iowa State. Marshall Koehn won Special Teams Player of the Week in week three for his 57-yard game-winning field goal against Pittsburgh. Desmond King won Co-Defensive Player of the Week in week five for his multiple interception performance in Iowa's win over Wisconsin. Jordan Canzeri took Offensive Player of the Week honors in week six for his performance against Illinois.

This is Wadley's second conference honor. He was Freshman of the Week on November 3, 2014 for his performance in Iowa's 48-7 win over Northwestern.

Iowa is the only FBS team since 1996 to have tow different 20-yard rushers in consecutive weeks. Canzeri rushed for 256 yards on October 10 against Illinois.

The Hawkeyes are on their bye week and return to action on October 31 when they host Maryland.
