CHICAGO (KWWL) -

The University of Iowa Hawkeyes swept over the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday with a 40-10 win.

This is the first time since 2009 that the Hawkeyes have been 7-0, and the fifth time in the school's history.

The game had a slow start, with the only score being a field goal made by Iowa.

The second quarter picked up some speed, as Iowa made two consecutive touchdowns and Northwestern responded with a score and a field goal of their own, making the halftime score 16-10 with Iowa in the lead.

The second half of the game, Iowa really flexed their offensive muscles and scored 24 unanswered points, resulting in a 40-10 win over the Wildcats.

Iowa's next game will be a home game against Maryland on the 31st.
