Iowa City woman arrested after "Scandalous" 911 call

Posted: Updated:
An Iowa City woman is facing charges, accused of pretending to be a character from the television show Scandal while making a fake 911 call.
Kelsey Cousins, 20, was booked in the Johnson County Jail early on Friday morning for making non-emergency 911 call and for public intoxication, both of which are simple misdemeanors.
Criminal complaints say she called 911 shortly before 3:00 in the morning on Friday claiming she was Olivia Pope and reporting "syrus beams outside of Sports Column." During the call, criminal complaints say, she kept talking about Olivia Pope and a "car with a bomb in it that was heading to the white house." The officer who authored the complaint makes sure to note "Olivia Pope is a television show character and everything the defendant state was nonsensical and rambling."
