BUCHANAN COUNTY (KWWL) -

After a motorcycle hit a deer, sending two people to the hospital, the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office has tips for drivers.

Deputies say this is the time of year they tend to see more of these crashes -- most often from 6-9 p.m.

They offer these tips:

-"Don't Veer for Deer" -- if you swerve, you may lose control of the car.

-Keep your high beams on when possible, especially in areas where you know deer may be active.

-Be alert for deer eyes and if you see anything suspicious, slow down.

-Keep an eye out for deer crossing signs.

-Use you horn to scare deer.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office also recommends motorcyclists avoid riding at night, when possible.
