WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Diversity & Inclusion Partnership of the Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber is presenting the 2015 Diversity & Inclusion Executive Summit. This is the 5th year for this educational event for business and institutional owners and managers. The Summit will be held on October 16, in Tama Hall at Hawkeye Community College, 1501 East Orange Road, Waterloo, from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, with registration and breakfast beginning at 7:30 am. The Summit provides attendees a concentrated and focused experience with multiple activities including a keynote speaker, a dramatic presentation, and authoritative workshops.

The Diversity & Inclusion Initiative helps the business and institutions of the Cedar Valley region recognize and act on the business case for adopting and implementing inclusive practices in hiring, employee development, marketing, and environment.

Two keynote presentations will be given in the morning. Managing a Multi-generational Workforce will provide pointers on motivating, managing and retaining younger employees to ways of preventing older managers from losing their minds. In this presentation, author Garrison Wynn will show how it's possible for baby boomers and Gen X and Y employees to work well together.

Incognito is a one-man play performed by actor and author Michael Fosberg. Based on a true story, it deals with the social issues of race, diversity, stereotyping, identity, finding a father, family history, adoption, and divorce.

Two workshops are offered: Employing People with Disabilities: Finding the How and Transgender Issues and Challenges. Lunch will be served during the workshops.

Also during the Summit, the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber will announce the call for nominations and application processes for the Diversity & Inclusion Awards to be presented at the 2016 Annual Celebration, March 26, 2015 at the Park Place Event Center, Cedar Falls.

These awards will be given for outstanding contribution by a business or organization for leadership in creating and strengthening an environment of diversity and inclusion in the workplace culture, business practices and in the community.  Deadline for nominations is November 15, 2015.  A nomination form can filled out online at cedarvalleyalliance.com.
