Eastern Iowa Cubs fans go nuts

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

At a bar decked out in UNI's purple and yellow, it was the blue and red cheering the loudest Tuesday night.

"I've been waiting for this for a long time, I feel good, they're a good team!" said Cubs fan Linda Mills.

Cubs fans at Mulligans in Cedar Falls hung on every play.

And while every fan has their own love story to tell, Kathleen Niedert, a fan for more than 50 years, probably can beat them all.

"I may never live to see this again," said Niedert.

Every pitch, every walk, every run, she was there.

As the Cubs took the reigns of what would be their last game against St. Louis this year, Eastern Iowa Cubs fans watched in amazement.

The lone Cardinals fan wasn't amused, and the rest of the night didn't go to well for him either.

Cubs closer Hector Rondon finished the game with a strike-out.

It was a huge victory for Cubs fans who have been waiting for this forever.

"It's the best feeling, the best feeling for a long time," said Niedert.

She says she doesn't feel bad for Cardinals fans.
