Elkader man sentenced to 5 years for using club as weapon

An Elkader man was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge of going armed with intent.

According to Elkader Police, 26-year-old Andrew Cole got into a verbal altercation with a local store owner, then left to get a homemade club on August 4.  He came back and destroyed several planters in front of the business before threatening the business owner.

He was arrested shortly after by the Elkader Police, who were assisted by the Clayton County Attorney's Office.
