Waterloo man arrested for robbery, firing gun

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo man is in custody for allegedly resisting arrest after attempting to rob another man at gunpoint.

It happened around 1 a.m. on Sunday in the 1900 block of Mulberry.

23-year-old Christopher Lee Catala is accused pointing a small firearm at Frank Miller Jr. outside of Miller's home.

Documents state Catala asked Miller what he had in his pockets, then racked the gun and pointed it at Miller again.

When police arrived, Catala was inside a home in Mulberry Street.

According to court records, he walked outside holding the gun, and then went back inside after noticing officers.

He then tried to close the door on officers, documents state.

Upon his arrest, police found two counterfeit bills in his possession - a counterfeit $100 bill and a counterfeit $50 bill.

Catala is in custody for first-degree robbery, reckless use of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and forgery.
