CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Firefighters say oily rags might have caused the fire. They say they have not confirmed that this is the cause, and they are still investigating.

Head of Communications Christopher Martin lived in the house with his wife, who is also a professor at UNI.

A house caught fire in Cedar Falls just before 4 a.m this morning on W. Seerley Blvd.

According to firefighters, the fire started in a garage. Both the garage and parts of the top floor of the house are destroyed.

Two UNI professors live in the house with their family. Everyone was able to make it out safely. They have two cats that also made it out safely.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
