KEOKUK COUNTY (KWWL) -

Lee County residents in the southeastern corner of Iowa will soon be able to enroll in a manufacturing job skills course free of charge.

Manufacturing 101 will be offered by Southeastern Community College's Fort Madison Center.

The course begins Oct. 20 and will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday through Jan. 28.

Dana Millard is marketing and communications manager for Lee County Economic Development Group. She says the course is designed "to improve the pipeline" of workers for area industrial employers.

Millard says the course covers the basic math, reading comprehension and basic mechanical skills needed to get an entry-level job with some area employers.
