A new medical method can help women diagnosed with cancer maintain their fertility.

A Danish hospital in Copenhagen is credited with discovering the breakthrough.

Chemotherapy has shown that it stops production of eggs in most cases, but doctors have found a way to overcome the problem by freezing women's eggs and tissue from their ovaries and inserting them again when the women are cured.

Over the course of 10 years, the hospital has followed a group of 31 women diagnosed with cancer who were receiving treatment.

Ten women from the group have now succeeded in becoming pregnant after weathering cancer and subsequently having the procedure performed. One has even had three children after beating a cancer diagnosis.
