CLINTON (AP) -

A North Carolina plastics recycler has opened a new recycling plant in a vacant Clinton warehouse.

EnviroVision Technologies of Charlotte, North Carolina, runs the plant.

Clinton Mayor Mark Vulich introduced EnviroVision Recycling at a news conference on Wednesday.

Vulich says EnviroVision is leasing the 62,000-square-foot warehouse and plan to invest about $750,000 in equipment and minor upgrades to the building.

EnviroVision handles post-industrial plastic waste.

After removing all metal, the items are ground up by machinery into small flakes, which are sold to manufacturing customers that make it into new plastic products.

Its customers manufacture pallets, pipe, irrigation pipe, trash cans and crates for dairy and beverages.

The plant expects a volume of between 800,000 and 1 million pounds of plastic a month.
