WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Before the doors even opened for the Donald Trump event there was plenty of excitement. Hundreds of people lined the parking lot waiting to get into the historic Electric Park Ballroom in Waterloo.

"Why are you supporting Mr. Trump?"
"Because he's probably the one that has enough money to win the whole thing," said Hunter Foster. Foster, from Plainfield, says he skipped school to see Trump.

Among the crowd of people, it seemed the message was pretty clear, people want a change.

"We're hoping he's going to clean house, get ride of all the corruption in there," said Craig Schmit, from Gilbertville.

More than a thousand people packed the Electric Park Ballroom for the noon event.

Trump spoke on a number of different topics, including his plan to build a wall, forcing people to come into America legally.

"We're going to have a big beautiful door and they're going to come through but they have to come here legally or we don't have a country folks," said Trump.

He also said we need to take care of our veterans, build our military, and repeal Obamacare.

There were, however, a few protesters that made it inside.

"Oh I thought they were on our side. That's alright. Don't worry. Don't hurt them," said Trump.

Outside, hundreds of other supporters, waited as they weren't allowed in by the fire marshal. Trump addressed the crowd briefly and signed some autographs.

"Folks I don't know what happened. You've been waiting out here. You've been waiting so long, it's terrible," said Trump.

Trump assured the crowds, inside and outside, he was going to be back to Iowa.
