Cedar Valley's biggest Cubs fan

The National League Wild Card game is Wednesday night and the Chicago Cubs finally have a team, that has everyone talking.

One Cedar Falls man can hardly wait.

Take one step inside Matt Wilson's "fan room" and it's clear to see whose team he's on.

"I would like to say that I'm the biggest Cubs fan in the Cedar Valley," Wilson says.

Posters, bats, baseballs, jerseys, everything Chicago Cubs.

"I'm really proud of it and it means the world to me," he says.

But let's be honest, it hasn't always been "easy" to cheer for them.

"We've had some rough years to put it mildly, but in the long-haul when things work out, it's going to be that much more amazing," he says.

Just to get an idea of how long it's actually been since the Chicago Cubs have won the World Series, it was 107 years ago back when this historic Waterloo Church on Walnut St. was first built in 1908.

But as Wilson says, if any team can do it...this would be the year!

First, there's a long way to go and that has Cub fans feeling all kinds of emotions.

"It's kind of like a kid on Christmas or Christmas Eve, just one of those feelings you know, butterflies in your stomach," he says.

The game is Wednesday night at 7:08 p.m. or in military time, 19:08.... see a coincidence there?
