#22 Hawks prepare for Illinois on homecoming

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Five and oh, and rolling right along -- there's no doubt -- things are going well in Hawkeyeland right now.

Austin Blythe: "I think we were more self motivated more than anything understanding what we did last year wasn't good enough, knowing we wanted to change that is really all the "

Iowa looks to continue that run against a so far surprising Illinois team -- the Illini dropped just one game this season -- and are coming off a tough 14, 13 win over Nebraska.

Blythe: "They do a lot of things a lot better. Coming off an emotional win like they had, they're going to come in here ready to go."

C.J. Beathard: We're 5-0 right now, but it doesn't mean much. It means we've done a good job so far, but I feel there's so much more we can do and we can get so much better.

Kirk Ferentz: For a lot of guys this is new territory, so that's a good thing, and I'm all for that as long as they understand what's more exciting to me is that we're playing well enough to be recognized.

and defensively is where they're really getting it done -- the Hawkeyes are the only team remaining in the country that hasn't allowed a single rushing touchdown this season.

Nate Meier: That's awesome. Our coaches always harp on we have to stop the run we have to stop the run. Have people play with just one arm, so it's a great edge to have.

And they're hoping that edge continues when the Illini roll in to town this weekend.
