The City of Dubuque is considering safety improvements.

Last month Nancy Krapfl was attacked and murdered as she was out walking.

The suspect reportedly told police he did it because he didn't have anything better to do.

The murder led to a community outcry, and some called for more street lights.

We told you about this woman last month. She was collecting signatures to bring this issue to the city council.

Tonight they'll consider a new streetlight policy. The city engineer is recommending having lights every 300 feet, when possible.

Current policy recommends every 600 feet. They want to start on this immediately by adding 320 new LED lights and converting 45 current lights to LED.

The city also wants to add 93 security cameras.
