IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa Hawkeyes defensive back Desmond King has been named Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the Big Ten Conference for his contributions in #22 Iowa's 10-6 win over Wisconsin on Saturday.

King, who was Big Ten Freshman of the Week in 2013, had two interceptions, five solo tackles, four assisted tackles and two pass break-ups. King also returned three kicks on special teams for a total of 65-yards. He leads the Big Ten with five interceptions, the most for a Hawkeye since Brent Greenwood had five in 2010.

Saturday is the second time this season King has recorded two interceptions in a game. He had two against Pitt in a 27-24 win on September 19. He is the first Hawkeye since Tyler Sash in 2009 to have multiple games with more than one interception.

The Hawkeyes snapped Wisconsin's 10-game home winning streak.

King becomes the third Iowa player this season to earn a weekly conference honor. C.J. Beathard was named Offensive Player of the Week after Iowa's win at Iowa State, and Marshall Koehn was named Special Teams Player of the Week for his game-winning field goal against Pitt.

The Hawkeyes will go for their first 6-0 start since 2009 when they host 4-1 Illinois for Homecoming on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 11 a.m.
