UPDATE: Four-year-old dies in ATV accident

MUSCATINE (KWWL) -

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Lukas Thompson, 4,  was driving a small 49 cc ATV at the time of the accident.

They say Thompson was on private property when the vehicle hit uneven ground and rolled over. The ATV then fell on top of the boy.

49 cc ATV manufacturers usually recommend that children are 6 years and older to drive the vehicle.

Iowa State Patrol says they boy's father was watching him at the time of the accident, and ran over to help pull the vehicle off of him.

He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is set this week.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.

A four-year-old boy died after an ATV accident in Muscatine.

 The Iowa State Patrol responded to a home in the 1900 block of Keokuk Ave. around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Lukas Thompson, 4,  was on an ATV on private property when the vehicle hit uneven ground and rolled over.

A Crash Report lists Thompson as the driver of the ATV.

He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

Thompson was from Coralville.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
