Utility to break ground on new Mason City operations center

MASON CITY (AP) -

Alliant Energy is set to break ground next week on a 67,000-square-foot operations center in Mason City.

The groundbreaking will be held at 2 p.m.

Monday on about 20 acres of land at 1035 43rd St. S.W.

The center will allow Alliant to have most of its Mason City facilities and about 75 employees on the same property.

The center has been in the planning and development stages for several years.

Participants in the groundbreaking will be Chad Schreck, president and chief executive officer of the North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corp.; Mason City Mayor Eric Bookmeyer; and Doug Kopp, president of Alliant Energy's Iowa utility.
