A Postville man who robbed the State Bank in Calmar in May will spend more than seven years in federal prison.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 49-year-old Tyrone Wilson, who pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery on June 25, was sentenced to seven years and three months in federal prison on Thursday in Cedar Rapids. He must also pay $1,400 in restitution to the bank.

According to court documents, Wilson entered the bank in May, reached across the counter, grabbed the teller’s wrist and demanded the money in the drawer.  He then jumped onto the counter and grabbed $900 from the teller’s drawer.

They say Wilson, who spent most of the money on cocaine, was arrested in the Rock Island, Illinois area.

The $1,400 in restitution includes the $900 Wilson took from the bank and $500 in lost profits to the bank.
