Cigarette butts being flagged during Belle Plaine park clean-up

Posted: Updated:
BELLE PLAINE (KWWL) -
Volunteers will be meeting at Williams Park in Belle Plaine to clean up the park on October 10 at 9:00 in the morning. They'll be picking up trash to help clean the park, but they'll also be marking where cigarette butts were dropped.
The volunteers want the community to see where people are smoking in relation to where children are playing; they'll use the cigarette marker information to bring awareness to the community in their effort to make Belle Plaine's parks nicotine free.
The clean up is hosted by Above the Influence Coalition, ASAC, Belle Plaine Reality Check and Belle Plaine Parks and Recreation.
Volunteers are encouraged to come and help during the Saturday clean-up.
