Brand of dog treats recalled due to salmonella threat

Posted: Updated:

A brand of dog treats are being recalled nationwide due to the possibility of a salmonella contamination.

The recall centers around the "Good 'n' Fun - Beefhide Chicken Sticks" products, which are sold at Dollar General and Dollar Tree stores.

Specifically, the Food and Drug Administration warns of treats packaged in a 2.8 oz bag stamped with an "ao15010" code on the back of packaging, as well as having a March 2018 expiration date.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products, and there is also possible risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products.

Pets with salmonella infections may be lethargic and could exhibit symptoms of diarrhea, fever and vomiting.

Customers who purchased these dog treats are urged to dispose of the product, or they can also return it for a full refund.
