CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A former Nevada, Iowa police officer, who is also a disbarred Iowa attorney, is headed to federal prison after pleading guilty to selling counterfeit money.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 43-year-old Brian Loren Stowe, of Waverly, pleaded guilty today to one count of dealing in counterfeit currency.

Stowe admitted to selling $900 in counterfeit money to an undercover agent in exchange for $250 in real currency in February.

The Iowa Supreme Court disbarred Stowe in 2013 after he was convicted on felony forgery charges and received a deferred judgment for possession of methamphetamine.

A sentencing date has not been set, but Stowe faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
