IOWA CITY (KWWL) -
The University of Iowa says ticket sales for "Grapple on the Gridiron" surpassed 16,000 just 75 minutes after they were made available to the general public on this morning.
"Grapple on the Gridiron" is a dual meet between Iowa and Oklahoma State that will be held on Saturday, November 14 at 11 a.m. at Kinnick Stadium.
The teams are looking to become the first NCAA wrestling teams to compete in a Division I football stadium and set a new NCAA dual meet attendance record. The current record is 15,996 and is held by Penn State.
The $10 tickets can be purchased through the UI Athletics Ticket Office by calling 1-800-IA-HAWKS or by visiting www.hawkeyesports.com.
"Grapple on the Gridiron" tickets are part of the wrestling season ticket package and are already available to football and basketball season ticket holders.
University of Iowa students can begin reserving their free tickets on Thursday by logging on to their UI Athletics ticket account at hawkeyesports.com.
The first 15,000 tickets sold will get reserved seating if the event needs to be moved to Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Iowa football team hosts Minnesota at 7 p.m. the same night.
