WATERLOO (KWWL) -

An Eastern Iowa high school was forced to cancel Monday's JV football game due to multiple injuries. Waterloo East High School has 13 injured players, all hurt in the past week.

East Athletic Director Al Pace says he has to chalk it up to bad luck.

"We ended up with three concussions, had a bad back, pretty good potential ACL sprain, and another lineman who's blown out his knee," said Pace.

Pace says it was in their best interest to cancel the next JV game.

"I'm going to say the weather has played a part though. Memorial Field is kind of beat up and that didn't help us at all Friday night. The ground is pretty hard," said Pace.

As for the rest of the school year, Pace says there may be an opportunity to put in a few different games throughout the week to get the rest of the team playing time.
