WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Imagine having more than 70 people over for dinner -- 70 hungry college football players.

One Waterloo couple was up for the challenge, but only because the player's coach is their grandson.

Dakota State University's wide receiver's coach is a Waterloo native.

One day a few months ago while visiting grandma, Jared Hottle asked if he could have the guys over for dinner.

He says it started as a joke at first, but grandma delivered.

She even let them practice in her front yard.

"It's no trouble at all, we're glad they're here. We hope they win their game," said Myrna Hottle, Jared's grandma.

Hundreds of sandwiches, plenty of cookies, and one large picnic table is enough to make the Dakota State players happy.

"Usually we stop at Golden Corral or something, so this is a little better than that," said Jared Hottle.

He says it's surreal to have his guys over for dinner at his stomping grounds.

The team is traveling to the Quad Cities area Saturday where they'll take on St. Ambrose University.
