The average American won't be spending as much to get spooky this year versus last Halloween; the National Retail Federation says the average person will spend $74.34 this year versus $77.52 last year.
Of the 157 million Americans expected to celebrate Halloween, about 93% will buy candy, 45% will decorate their home or yard. 68 million Halloween celebrators are expected to dress up in costumes.
The Federation's report shows that consumers will spend an average of $27.33 on store-bought and homemade costumes for the whole family.
